DEVELOPMENT OF WATER
BASED COATING TECHNOLOGY:
Pressure-sensitive labels were first developed and introduced in the early 1970's.
These "peel-off" labels were traditionally produced utilizing
manufacturing processes that resulted in the release of significant quantities
of volatile organic compounds. In the mid 1970's, Green Bay Packaging's Coated
Products Division became one of the very first roll label material facilities
in the world to pioneer the manufacturing of pressure-sensitive label materials
using extremely low VOC water-based adhesive systems. Today, water based
adhesive systems for pressure-sensitive tapes and labels are the industry
standards.
