PARTICIPATION IN
VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS REDUCTION:
Green Bay Packaging pursued an opportunity to participate in the Environmental
Protection Agency's Partnership in Prevention Initiative, a.k.a., "The
33/50 Program," that sought the voluntary reduction in the emission of
seventeen (17) designated chemical substances by 50% by 1995. The only chemical
compound from those seventeen identified as a concern throughout Green Bay
Packaging was 1,1,1 trichloroethane. The corporation, primarily through product
substitution activities, achieved a 99.0% reduction in the use and emission of
this compound through the end of calendar year 1996.
