EARLY VOLUNTARY MACT
COMPLIANCE:
Kraft pulp mills are required under
EPA MACT rules to enclose their pulp washing systems to reduce emissions of
certain hazardous air pollutants. The Arkansas Kraft Division of Green Bay
Packaging elected to voluntarily complete this closure in 2001, five years
earlier than required by regulation. This closure resulted in the reduction of
HAP, VOC, and sulfur compound emissions by over 1000 tons per year.
