COMMERCIALIZATION OF NSSC
PULPING:
In 1948, Green Bay Packaging took a pulping concept that had been developed by
the Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin, and implemented it on a
commercial scale. The process, called Neutral Sulphite Semi-Chemical Pulping,
resulted in a much higher conversion of wood to pulp, a corresponding decrease
of organics in the pulping liquor, and the release of fewer overall
environmental emissions.
