TIMBER CONSERVATION AND WASTE WOOD UTILIZATION:
TIMBER CONSERVATION AND
WASTE WOOD UTILIZATION:
Wisconsin has had a highly developed sawmill industry which processes the
state's abundant hardwoods into consumer related products. Historically, the
trimmings from sawmill operations were burned at the sawmill solely for
volumetric reduction. In 1956, Green Bay Packaging developed a system, which
would allow the conversion of these formerly combined sawmill wastes into
paper. Furthermore, Green Bay Packaging often financed the conversion from
burning to chipping to foster the more efficient use of our natural resources.
