SOLID WASTE REDUCTION
ACTIVITIES:
Significant waste reduction steps were initiated facility-wide to reduce the
amount of solid waste (i.e. containers) generated at all Green Bay Packaging
mill facilities and converting plants. Wherever feasible, suppliers and vendors
of raw materials to our facilities were required to utilize "returnable
totes" in lieu of non-returnable containers, which required traditional
methods of disposal.
RECYCLING OF LASER
PRINTED OFFICE WASTE:
Green Bay Packaging introduced a new corrugated shipping container, Eco-White,
which uses laser printed office waste paper. The utilization of laser and
xerographic inks had made it extremely difficult to recycle these grades of
post consumer white office waste in the past. Green Bay Packaging's Arkansas
Kraft Mill was successful in overcoming these recycling impediments.
