CLEAN BAY BACKER AWARD:
In recognition for their innovative closed-loop wastewater recycling system and
continued dedication to protecting the environment, Green Bay Packaging Inc.
was selected as business recipient of the 1993 Clean Bay Backer Award. The Clean
Bay Backer Award gave special recognition to Green Bay Packaging's operation of
an innovative, closed-loop wastewater recycling system in operation since the
early 1970's, that helped improve water quality in the Fox River. It also
recognized a significant environmental breakthrough accomplished on September
18, 1993, when Green Bay Packaging Inc. achieved a papermaking "first"
by operating the Green Bay Mill for one full year with no direct process
wastewater discharge to the environment.
